After 25 years in business management and leadership roles, Janis opted to retire from a highly successful career to devote more time giving to family and community. She has spent the last ten years raising her daughters, who are now both at Staples High School, and providing service on many local boards and committees. Before joining the Board of Finance in November 2011, Janis was the Chairman of the Parks and Rec Commission where she spearheaded several public/private initiatives and worked to improve public dialogue. She pioneered the formation of The Friends of Parks and Rec to find private financing alternatives to important public projects.
Janis was a Managing Director at JPMorgan, leading a team responsible for assessing and redirecting investment efforts to reduce burn-rate, realign management teams and refocus business strategies. Prior to JPMorgan, Janis was a Partner in KPMG’s Financial Services Management Consulting practice, where she worked with Financial Service firms to improve productivity, streamline businesses, identify new electronic business opportunities, and implement integrated risk management strategies.
Janis has lived in Westport since 2002 with her husband, Andy and their two daughters who attend Westport Public Schools.
